Safety Recall Information - QL564 & QL564P power supplies, serial numbers 268705 to 293150 inclusive

RECALL NOTICE - APRIL 2008

As a result of a recent safety audit carried out as part of standard TTi quality procedures, we want to notify you of a potential safety issue with a specific batch of QL564 and QL564P power supplies.

This notice only pertains to these specific models carrying the serial number in the range 268705 to 293150 inclusive. Units outside of this serial number range are not affected. No other model of TTi power supply is affected.

The Problem

QL564 and QL564P power supplies with serial numbers in the range given above were built with AC line transformers that were not manufactured precisely to specification. As a result, the transformers do not fully conform with the requirements specified by the company.

This fault has been discovered through our product quality and safety audit. No actual electrical problems have been notified to the company by any users.
A risk assessment has been done by both TTi and the transformer manufacturer. Every transformer and power supply has passed a high voltage insulation test during manufacture. Additional high voltage insulation testing on further units from the same batch has shown no evidence of an electrical safety hazard.

NEVERTHELESS, WE HAVE DECIDED THAT THE AFFECTED POWER SUPPLIES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THE TRANSFORMER REPLACED.

What you should do

1. Check the serial number of your QL564 or QL564P. The serial number is printed on a label on the base of the unit.

2. If the serial number is in the range 268705 to 293150 inclusive, immediately notify either TTi directly or the distributor from whom it was purchased giving the specific serial number. (Note that units with a serial number outside of this range are not affected by this recall).

3. Arrange for the return of the power supply as soon as possible. Information about doing this is provided within this web page.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are not the primary user of the affected TTi Power Supply, please make every effort to pass this notice to the appropriate people in your organization.

What we will do

As soon as possible after receipt, TTi or their agent or distributor will modify the power supply by replacing the AC line transformer.

The power supply will then be returned to you by pre-paid carriage and any shipping costs incurred by you will be refunded.

AFFECTED PRODUCTS

This recall only affects QL564 and QL564P power supplies with serial number in the range 268705 to 293150 inclusive.

Units outside of this serial number range are not affected. No other model of TTi power supply is affected.

The serial number is located on the base of the power supply.

Date of Purchase

Units purchased before March 2007 will be outside of the affected serial number range. Units purchased after this date should be checked to see if they are within the affected range.
